Dear Parents

End of Term Carol Service – Tuesday 20th December

Please come and join us in our end of term Carol Service at St Mary’s Church 1.45pm on Tuesday.  All are welcome.

Deputy Head Teacher Position

Mrs Jane Rosser is continuing her role as Acting Head teacher at High Ham School for the Spring term; therefore it has been decided to promote Sally Geary to the role of Deputy Head teacher from January 2006.  We congratulate Sally and know that she is very enthusiastic about developing her role.  This will be of great benefit to the school.

We finish for the Christmas break on Tuesday 20th December and re-open for the Spring Term on Wednesday 4th January 2006.

Drumming workshops

We have been given the opportunity for all Key Stage 2 children to take part in drumming workshops free of charge.  If they enjoy it, there will be the offer of drum tuition in the future, which obviously will be charged for. (I hope this doesn’t cause too many disputes!)

School Development Plan

We would be grateful if some parents and older pupils could attend out School Development Planning Meeting on Monday January 16th at 6.00pm.  This is another opportunity for you to comment upon and have a direct influence on the future direction of the school.  In the past we have used pupil and parental questionnaires and discussions to guide our thinking, but the Governors and I thought it would be great if we held an informal session to really throw some new suggestions or comments into the pot.  The evening will begin at 6.00pm and will finish by 8.00pm at the latest.  We will be using the Governments “Every Child Matters” agenda to look for ways to ensure that our children can:

·        Be healthy

·        Stay safe

·        Enjoy and achieve

·        Make a positive contribution

·        Achieve economic well-being

If you would like any further information about the evening before coming, see me or sign below to register your possible attendance.

May I take this opportunity once again to wish you a happy and Holy Christmas and an advanced Happy New Year.

With Best Wishes from all at the school.

Yours sincerely

Bernie Green

Head teacher
