Dear
Parents 5th
January 2006
A very Happy New Year to all parents and we hope that you had a very enjoyable Christmas. The children were certainly well looked after by Santa, judging by the lovely presents they received.
The New Year and new term has got off to a lovely start, therefore a few items of relevant news for you.
After School Clubs
The new leaflet for clubs will be sent out shortly as clubs will commence week beginning January 16th. There is no Key Stage 1 football at present, as the coach felt it was not appropriate during this part of the winter. There will be a Key Stage 1 Team Theme course set up when the weather gets a little better.
Drum Tuition
All Key Stage 2 pupils will have the chance to experience a drum workshop this term free of charge, with a view to taking up paid tuition if required.
Free School Meals
Entitlement
At this time of year we are completing forms for the County Council which will help them calculate our school budget for 2005 to 2006. Part of the form requires us to give a total for families who are entitled to free school meals. It would be very beneficial if you would let myself or Mrs Cutler know if you are in receipt of Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance (Income based) as this means you are entitled to free school meals. You do not have to claim free school meals but it will affect our funding if we do not give an accurate picture. This will obviously affect the quality of education we can offer pupils at our school.
May I reassure you that the information is strictly confidential and actual details of recipients are not required. Please let me know if you need further explanation of this request.
School Development
Plan Meeting
A reminder that there is a meeting on January 16th at 6.00pm in the School hall for parents/carers to contribute to the forward planning and further improvements of the school, alongside staff and governors. Please let me know if you can come. It would be great to hear your views about how we can improve things for the children.
Swimming
As mentioned before the holidays, swimming begins on Monday 9th January for Year 1 and 2 children (Emerald Class) and Ruby Class. Please ensure that the children have their kit and arrive at school promptly.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club will commence again week beginning 9th January and will be run by Mrs Wendy Phillips. Please let Wendy or the school office know if you wish to book your child/children in: 50p per day.
Family Learning
A leaflet about Discovering Learning Through Play is available for Reception Parents who wish to take part in the course this half term. Please see Mrs Joy if you require further information.

Term

Friday 10th February – School finishes for Half Term!
