Newsletter 02  -  Spring 2006

Dear Parents                                                                                                                31st January 2006

It would appear that no sooner have we come back to school after the Christmas break than we are zooming towards half term.  Where have the last few weeks gone?

As always the children have had a busy start to the term, with swimming lessons underway for Emerald and Ruby Classes, Discovering Learning Through Play sessions for parents and pupils in Diamond Class and pre-school and a very enjoyable Maths week for all of the children. The week was planned to enhance our provision for mathematics, which remains an area of high achievement at the school.  We had a lovely week based on the theme of Chinese New Year and the children made masks and a Chinese dragon as well as mathematical books to support learning.  Mrs Sherry and Mrs Delahay have displayed some of the work and photographs from the week in the school hall.  Please take a few minutes to have a look.

Theatre Production

Next Friday afternoon we have arranged for another theatrical experience for the children.  “The Cosmic Crew” theatre production will take place in the school hall at 1.45pm.  The production is about time travel and is suitable for the whole school.  It promises to be colourful and exciting, so I am sure the children will have a great time.

Crossing Patrol

Sadly Tracey Ballard will be leaving her post as Crossing Patrol in July, therefore we are now seeking a replacement.  We are grateful to Tracey for giving us so much notice and for doing such a fantastic job.  Please come forward if you feel you may be able to take on this job from September 2006.

School Development Meeting

Thank you to all who attended the School Development Meeting on 16th January.  It was a very successful event which we hope to repeat next year.  Lots of good ideas came from the meeting which we will incorporate in the new School Development Plan.  If you were unable to attend but feel that you would like to comment on the organisation of the school or the building, please let me know.

One of the items mentioned was making use of parents to promote a variety of jobs/interests to our pupils (e.g. Builder, Plumber, Nurse, Cook etc).  Would you be willing to talk to pupils about your skills etc? If so, please complete the slip overleaf and return it to the school office.

17” Computer Screen

A very kind man who lives in the village has offered a 17” Computer Screen free to a good home.  Please contact the school office.

Sewing Club

After half-term Miss Pritchard is starting a sewing club (years 3,4 & 5) please complete the slip below and return to the office by Wednesday 8th February if your child would like a place – Thursdays 3.30-4.15pm

Lost Property

Please ensure all property is clearly labelled for easy return.  Also we appear to have a large number of items in the lost property box again.  This is situated in the hall: but please see a member of staff if you are unsure of where to locate it.
