NEWSLETTER SUMMER 05 – 2007
Dear Parents
Structure and Organisation for September 2007
We were delighted with the response to our recent advertisements for new teaching staff. The calibre of applicants was of a very high standard and we are delighted to inform you that from September 2007, Mr Tom Briggs, Mr Wayne Higgins and Mr Brian Gregory will be employed by the school. The female staff will now have to relinquish their hold on the ‘male toilet’ (which has been a very handy extra facility in the absence of male staff).
As you know Tom Briggs has been a student in Topaz class this term and has been a very welcome member of the team. This will be Tom’s first teaching post and will be a great start to his career. No doubt he will continue to support our after school club’s programme.
Mr Wayne Higgins, our new Deputy
Headteacher has been working in
Mr Brian Gregory is with us for a year as a Graduate Trainee Teacher. Brian has held a very senior management position in industry up until now, but he has decided on a change of career. He will no doubt bring many strengths.
The new class structure for 2007 will be as follows:
Diamond Class – Reception – Miss Pritchard and Mrs Moorse
Emerald Class – Year 1/Year 2 – Mrs Laurie (who is returning to Key Stage 1) and Mrs Dersley
Ruby Class – Year 3/Year 4 – Mr Briggs and Mrs Benjafield
Sapphire Class - Year 5 – Mr Higgins and Mrs Delahay
Topaz Class – Year 6 – Mrs Brettell/Mrs Green and Mr Gregory
As you can see, once again we are running 5 class groups to enable a good pupil/teacher ratio. Final class numbers are not yet known as we have one or two pupils moving in and out of the area, but no class will exceed 30 pupils and most will be approximately 25 pupils.
Wider Curriculum Opportunities
All pupils will continue to have Sports Coaching from Somerset Sports Partnership, Music tuition, French (Year 3 – 6) and a variety of wider opportunities in the afternoon to ensure we continue to offer a broad and balanced curriculum to support pupils’ learning.
I hope this is clear, but please contact me if you have any questions about the provision being made for your child in the next academic year.
Crossing Patrol
Please note Mrs Kim Stone is leaving us on 13th July, therefore if anyone is interested in manning the crossing patrol, please contact the school office. In the meantime, it is important that you ensure the safety of your child on their journey to and from school.
Yours sincerely
Bernie Green
