Even Better Appeal

Abbas and Templecombe Primary School is involved in an exciting project to enhance the facilities provided.

We have until September 2007 to raise £50,000 towards the completion of an extended classroom facility at the school. This would mean that we would be able to offer the village preschool "Sticky Fingers" its own purpose built facility and also provide a facility for wrap around care for children currently attending our school and a classroom for extended learning and adult education sessions in the Templecombe community

Abbas and Templecombe Church of England Primary School is very much a village school. There are 104 pupils currently in the school, and the reception year intake for 2008 was oversubscribed. The latest Ofsted Inspection for the school (Nov 2006) graded the school as Outstanding. The children enjoy coming to school and take part in full and varied curriculum.

Sticky Fingers Pre-School is currently housed in the Village Hall next to the school site, which is also used by other village organisation. A move to a purpose built environment would mean that the children's equipment could be permanently installed and displays would be easier to control. It would also mean that the Pre-School's hour' could be extended to provide all day provision, which is not a present possible.

The school has already raised £100,000 of the £150,000 needed but we are need to raise the balance, or the opportunity to have such a wonderful facility within the village will be lost. We are looking for donations to reach our target and it is our intention that the top donations would be recognised on a plaque within the new building.

If anyone can help an outstanding (Ofsted 2006) school get even better please contact us on 01963 370481 or email us on office@abbastemplecombe.somerset.sch.uk
