Well
my name is Craig Fellows and I go to Yeovil College at the
moment, I have been on my work experience at Abbas and Templecombe
twice now and I have enjoyed every second of it. The children
are unbelievable, they treated me like I had been working
there for years.
I also have to thank the teaching staff as all members offered
support for my lesson planning or if I just had a general
problem of finding my way around the school.
All the best for the future many thanks for the opportunities
you supplied me! CRAIG FELLOWS |

I
was searching the web tonight for any information on Templecombe
and came across your school site.My ancestors came from Abbas
and Templecombe and I feel that many must have been educated
at your school.
My great
great grandfather was GEORGE BELBEN (1/6/1854 - 16/2/1926)
who married Catherine (Kate) Witt (born 1/7/1850 in Great
Durnford Wilts, died 2/4/1929) in St Marys church Templecombe
on 7/2/1874.
George
and Kate had 9 children, Henry William George Belben (20/11/1874
- 25/8/1942), Caroline Eliza Belben (26/9/1876 - ?), Sarah
Belben (31/12/1877 - ?), Anna Kate Belben (30/10/1880 - ?),
John Charles Belben (4/7/1882 - 5/4/1884), William John Belben
who was my grandfather (5/5/1884 - 1/3/1956), Edwin Frank
Belben (31/1/1886 - 14/3/1965), Sidney Herbert Belben (13/9/1889
- 14/11/1949) and Arthur henry belben (23/7/1892).
All the children were born in Abbas & Templecombe.
My great great grandfather George Belben was a railwayman
and a sexton at St Marys church Templecombe and I believe
there is a plaque in the church which commemorates his service
to the church. He actually died in the church on 16/2/1926.
My parents Eric William Belbin ( born 26/3/19180 and Joan
Patricia Belbin (born 23/5/1919) live in Gosport, Hants and
I live in Christchurch, Dorset.
The family tree that I have unearthed so far is massive and
to date stretches back to Joseph Belbin /Belben who married
Sarah (date not known). Joseph was buried at St Marys Church
Abbas Combe on 2/8/1804 and Sarah was buried on 9/11/1797
also at St Marys.
With best wishes to all in the school,
Pat Baines (nee Belbin) |
